
Canada Trust Award: 1998 "Friends of the Environment Foundation"
- In 1998 we received a Canada Trust "Friends of the Environment Foundation" in the amount of $2500.00. We used it to purchase a partial set of quality binoculars
and to support the development of our Nature Trail which is our big project for 1998-99.

Evergreen Foundation Award for Excellence 1997
- Award for Excellence in School Ground Naturalization 1997. There were 50 good candidates for
this award and five chosen. We were the only school from British Columbia. We received $1000.00. This was used
primarily to buy gardening equipment and native plants.
- We have also received two other awards of $500.00 each from the Evergreen Foundation.
These grants were also used to buy native plants.

Canada Trust Award: 1994 "Friends of the Environment Foundation"
- In 1994 we received a Canada Trust "Friends of the Environment Foundation" in the amount of $2500.00. We used this to purchase a greenhouse for the propagation of
native plants as well as use as a tool shed.

School District #61 Site Development Grant 1994
- Also in 1994 we received a substantial grant of provincial money through a site development grant administered through
our district curriculum department, District 61. That money was used for teacher release time to plan and write units. This was crucial to the subsequent development of the
W.I.S.E. Environmental Program.

Canadian Architect Award of Excellence 1989
- When a new elementary school was required for the Greater Victoria School District,
Hughes Baldwin Architects was chosen. Their design for Rogers Elementary School incorporated themes of integration with
Community, Nature, and Technology. Their design won the Canadian Architect Award of Excellence for the year 1989.
